We Reimagined Our Hometowns Using Midjourney’s Discord Server

SGC’s team used Midjourney's Discord server to reimagine the places where we grew up in new and creative ways– here’s what we came up with.

Although AI programs have been around for a couple of years, advances in tools like Midjourney, Lensa, Dawn and Dream for creating illustrations caused a tsunami on social media this year, flooding every platform with easily-made AI-enhanced compositions and self portraits.

Our in-house team decided to roll with the tide and experiment with Midjourney’s Discord server to re-create the hometowns of our SGC team members spanning the United States, India, Singapore, Argentina, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Egypt. 

Some members chose to time travel and revisit bygone centuries, while others lept far into the future. A handful were curious to see how the AI recreated the same decade in which they grew up, but integrated with sci-fi elements like an alien invasion. The results were fantastical, whimsical and, at times, like the colleague whose reimagined childhood included a self-portrait, quite poignant.
